Maritime topchefer vil have grønnere shipping

34 topchefer i maritime erhverv har underskrevet en hensigtserklæring om at reducere branchens CO2-udledning hurtigst muligt

Klimaforskning viser, at den maritime industri skal gøre en ende på udledningen af drivhusgasser, og at det skal ske så hurtigt som muligt.

Sådan lyder en del af den hensigtserklæring, som 34 maritime topchefer netop har underskrevet i regi af Global Maritime Forum. 

Cheferne, der dog ikke alle sidder i rederivirksomheder (se liste nederst), erklærer sig enige i IMO's strategi om som minimum at halvere CO2-udledningen i 2050. 

- Den globale søbårne handels omstilling til en fremtid med lav CO2-udledning vil både drive en teknologisk og forretningsmæssig innovation. De rette incitamenter til at fremskynde investeringer i udvikling kan kun finde sted, hvis vi får en global, IMO-baseret regulering, siger Claus Hemmingsen, viceadm. direktør i A.P. Møller-Maersk, i en pressemeddelelse fra Global Maritime Forum. 

Også fra topchefen i det store råolierederi Euronav, Patrick Rogers, er der opbakning til IMO's strategi.

- Shipping er nødt til at tage disse mål til sig, så lad os tage vores del af ansvaret for at sikre os, at vores branche har kurs mod en bæredygtig fremtid for os selv og de næste generationer, siger han i pressemeddelelsen.

Global Maritime Forum forventer, at flere vil slutte sig til hensigtserklæringen med tiden. I øjeblikket har følgende skrevet under:
