Copenhagen's new STS cranes have set sail from Finland

After extensive construction work, CMP is now looking forward to the arrival of two new STS cranes from Konecranes in Finland.
The large cranes will be transported one at a time to CMP’s new container terminal in Outer Nordhavn, arriving a few weeks apart.
The first crane is expected to arrive at the end of this week, weather and wind permitting.
- The journey to Denmark takes about four days, followed by a few days at the quay for unsecuring and preparation before installation on the designated crane tracks at the container terminal, says Povl Dolleris Røjkjær Ungar, COO at Copenhagen Malmö Port.
77 meters
Each crane weighs approximately 1,150 tons and stands around 77 meters tall. With the boom raised, they reach a height of 108 meters. This size, along with new features such as remote operation and semi-automatic functionality, ensures the terminal is future-proofed for many years to come.
The cranes are expected to be put into operation after extensive testing, once the container terminal is relocated from its current site at Levantkaj in the second half of 2025.
