Stena Line launches second NewMax ro-ro ferry

Stena Line has reached a milestone in its NewMax fleet investment program with the launch of Stena Connecta at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in China.
This is according to a press release.
The ship is the second in a series of two ro-ro ferries designed for the Belfast-Heysham route.
Stena Connecta is equipped with technologies such as methanol propulsion, battery operation, shore power, and rotor sails to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
These technologies are part of Stena Line's goal to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainable shipping.
- We are excited about the launch of Stena Connecta, a step forward in our NewMax fleet investment program, says Niclas Mårtensson, CEO of Stena Line.
He continues:
- There is a growing demand on the Belfast-Heysham route, and we are confident that the additional capacity will be well received.
Niclas Mårtensson adds that the new ferry will improve the capacity and sustainability of the route, in line with Stena Line’s environmental goals.
