Danish shipping veteran settles in Singapore

Jesper Kristensen assumed the role of Group CEO of the ship management company Synergy Marine Group in Singapore on Monday, March 24.
The company announced the appointment in a statement.
- Jesper Kristensen will lead Synergy with a focus on further expanding our global operational footprint. With 34 years at Unifeeder, including 17 years as Group CEO, Jesper brings exceptional expertise in shipping, outsourcing, and operating highly efficient, customer-oriented global operations, Synergy Marine Group stated.
Synergy's new Danish CEO left Unifeeder back in August 2024 after exactly 17 years in the role.
Emphasizing a "people-first" culture
In a LinkedIn post, Jesper Kristensen stated that in his new role, he will focus on strengthening Synergy’s operational resilience, enhancing its “people-first” culture, and reinforcing the company’s customer focus.
- I believe we are well-positioned to lead the next era of maritime innovation – driving decarbonization, digital transformation, and inclusive leadership across sea and shore.
Synergy Marine Group was founded in 2006 by its current chairman, Captain Rajesh Unni, who served as CEO until 2023.
In the interim, Synergy’s Chief Operating Officer, Mathavan Subbiah, acted as interim CEO, overseeing IT, legal affairs, and financial operations, while responsibility for ship management was shared between Hari Swaminathan and Ajay Chaudhary.
As of 2025, Synergy Marine Group employs more than 24,000 seafarers and operates over 682 vessels, including complex LNG and LPG carriers, large container ships exceeding 20,000 TEU, oil and chemical tankers, car carriers, and bulk carriers.
Since its founding in 2006, Synergy Marine has expanded its physical presence to 30 offices across 14 countries.
