Hot maritime startup from Herlev sold to foreign giant
The Herlev-based company Daspos, which develops sensors for the detection of gas, oil sprays, and fuel vapors in maritime engine rooms, has been sold.
The buyer is the Swedish Consilium Safety Group, which works with fire safety and gas technical solutions.
The parties are far from strangers to each other; in fact, they have been working together for several years. And now they are truly joining forces, as stated in a press release.
- Daspos' unique technology is an excellent addition to our range and expands our leading position in safety technology in full alignment with our strategy, says Philip Isell Lind af Hageby, CEO of Consilium Safety Group.
Two-thirds of all fires on board ships start in the engine room.
In most cases, the fires are triggered by a fault in the fuel system, followed by contact between oil and a high-temperature surface in the engine room. The detection technology developed by Daspos increases the possibility for early detection of vapors and oil sprays from a wide range of different fuels.
- The idea behind our solution is to detect a problem before it becomes a critical safety issue on the ship and a significant cost for the shipowner. Consilium's global reputation and extensive presence in more than 55 countries enable us to extend our range to even more customers worldwide, Lars Gerner Lund, CEO of Daspos, says, calling it a decisive step for fire safety in the maritime sector.
Consilium Safety Group is headquartered in Gothenburg but has offices in 55 locations worldwide. The group has around 1,000 employees.
