Significant Career Move - Engine Giant Loses Research Director
One of the most significant professional profiles from the Danish maritime cluster has now reached the top at one of the world's largest cruise shipping companies.
Brian Østergaard Sørensen from the Danish/German engine giant MAN Energy Solutions is making a switch to Royal Caribbean Group in Miami.
Here, he will hold the title of Senior Vice President, Technical Operations.
Thus, he becomes part of the team led by another Danish maritime figure in Miami, namely Palle B. Laursen, who recently left A.P. Møller-Maersk to become Executive Vice President, Head of Marine at RCG.
As the Director of Research for the two-stroke sector, Brian Østergaard Sørensen has been responsible, among other things, for setting up an ambitious test engine setup in Copenhagen's South Harbour, from which test runs are being conducted on two-stroke engines running on ammonia.
Royal Caribbean Group in Miami is also in the process of a comprehensive transition of its fleet to alternative fuels other than traditional marine diesel.
